For the sake of our children and our environment

Assuring a continued supply of natural resources is a high priority for the generations to come. 25 years ago, Faber-Castell initiated a forestry project in Brazil that still counts as exemplary and for that reason has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as “environmentally compatible, socially acceptable, and economically sustainable”. These company-run forests make the Faber-Castell Group one of the few corporations that is not simply CO₂-neutral but absorbs considerably more carbon dioxide than it produces.

Environment-friendly water-based paint has been used at the headquarters in Stein since the early 1990s. Pencils coated in this way are not just environmentally compatible but also more hygienic than unpainted wooden pencils – a great advantage in kindergartens and day nurseries where pencils pass through many hands and often mouths as well. In addition, Colour Grip 2001 pencils are made from wood that has not been impregnated or treated with chemicals.

The Colour Grip pencils not only make the world a more colourful place: they are also highly functional. Their ergonomic triangular cross-section and the patented grip zone with its non-slip dots relieve the strain on a small hand and so allow a child to write and draw with less fatigue, right from the start. At the same time, the fascinating watercolour effects that budding artists can achieve with the water-soluble leads stimulate the natural pleasure that children derive from creative experimenting. Colour Grip pencils are thus an important component in the Playing & Learning range, which includes drawing and colouring implements and aids to learning to write, educationally and ergonomically matched to each phase of childhood; they are fun to use and introduce children to manual skills in a playful way.

These colourful all-rounders with their extra-dense pigment now come in a special edition: the new Colour Grip flip boxes make ideal presents for creative youngsters. Each box contains 12 or 24 colour pencils and also a golden Colour Grip. The practical flip-open lid means that the pencils are ready for use in a trice. At school, at home, or on a journey – there are no geographical limits when it comes to exploring the world of colour!
