Required Materials
- Template tree, A3 (basis)
- Template birds, A4
- 6 x Gelatos (different colours; for example: Metallic Blueberry, Snow Cone, Guava, Red Cherry, Grape, Green Tea)
- Brush
- Stamp
- Click&Go water cup
- Spray can and warm water
- Scissors
- Glue
- Palette knife or another small knife
- Paper plate
- Pitt Artist Pen (black)
- 2 x white dots to glue on as bird eyes (optional: 2 x googly eyes)
- Cleaning wipes
- Apron
-
Step 1: Draw colour along the marked frame and blur it with a finger. Neutral colours are great for creating a distressed or “grunge” effect.
-
Step 2: Cut equal amounts of the colours red and green from the Gelatos.
-
Step 3: Then reduce them to small pieces or mash them on a plate and mix it up with a bit of water.
-
Step 4: Use the new mixed colour (brown) and colour in the tree trunk with a brush.
-
Step 5: Cut a slice of the Gelatos, reduce them to small pieces and mash them with a palette knife or another small knife. Optional, add other colours and repeat the process. Fill up the spray can with warm water and add the colour pigments. Shake the closed spray can, so that the water and the Gelatos pigments can mix together.
-
Step 6: Create the background of the picture by spraying with the colour spray.
-
Step 7: Colour in the treetop with Gelatos and take a brush and mix it with water. Hint: Colour in only one side of the treetop and “swipe” the painted colour with the brush and water from one side to the other (work from “dark to light”).
-
Step 8: Choose one Gelatos-technique to create the birds. • Colour in the birds • Aquarelle effect • Colour spray Let the birds dry afterwards.
-
Step 9: Use the stamp to stamp blossoms on the three tree tops. To do so, apply colour of the Gelatos sturdily onto the stamp and use consistent force while stamping the paper. Hint: The colour “Grape” is suited especially well for stamping!
-
Step 10: Cut out the coloured birds and glue them on the template.
-
Step 11: Glue white dots on the birds’ eyes. Use the Pitt Artist Pen to draw a pupil (optional: use googly eyes).
